Perth

The City of Perth is the capital city of Western Australia, the nation’s largest state.  Most of Western Australia’s 1.8 million people live in the greater metropolitan area of Perth. It is a clean, uncrowded modern city and is the sunniest of all Australian capitals.

Enjoying more hours of sunshine than any other Australian capital, Perth is the place to take advantage of clean air, great beaches and a laid-back lifestyle. The city is located on the Swan River, with the suburbs sprawling out in a north-south direction, and east to the Darling Ranges.

Apart from its own points of interest, there are a few great day trips to take from Perth: Rottnest Island, to the historic towns of New Norcia or York, and north to the coastal Nambung National Park. The port city of Fremantle is a good place to unwind, and a tour of the Southwest, with its history, seashore, parks, wildflowers, and first-rate wineries.
